About wild card

Wild Cards is a term I picked up a long time ago when you would execute a search in  MS-DOS's directories. The easiest way to execute a search is by typing dir, but instead when using attribute<*.*> you invoke a wild card search. In any case if you do a search filter like all files with an s in its file name you type <s*.*>either at search bar or at the command prompt.   win search bar [s*.*],  comm prompt [dir [drive name:] *.*]

And so I have made it a joke and a constant mockery of myself that I have not made the appropriate steps to documenting my experience and since then resulted in an invalid portfolio and an incoherent image in areas of education and accomplishment.  In essence Wild Card Applicant is the unpredictbility and uncertainty that I've only learned about myself  to date.

This is my third attempt at a legitimate "conventional" portfolio. If you are repulsed, feeling accomplished and condescended if and when you do review text/images here I would not know what to say. As I always think its best to present process rather than results.

My  education is filed under BACKGROUND button. From there it will be best for you to think on your own as I assume no validity in the written word and the conventions of this world.

I think I underpromise and overdeliver , even if my intents are clear it would seem self defeating to others. I can only assure myself of gorging on food portions larger than my mouth as that is the only thing I can be sure of. With work and "convention" it's perilous to say you know everything only to find out, know means "jump w/o a safety net".

Work process

How do I go about work process?

3 things to consider on this earth:

  • Physics

  • Psychology

  • Economics

Everything else is thrown in between the above aforementioned.

Physics governs everything on this planet. I like to think of it as a reality check for everything. It tells you what you can and cannot do.

Psychology may or may not dictate object to human and vice versa relationships and so with human to human interactions.

Along this path you have the eccentricities of the market and your  unusual relationship with superiors and subordinates.

Economics, no brainer here, the only color is green. No insult intended but the medium of exchange has been set. I am not about to change that, simply figure out how  groups talk of "green" and make the most of it. "Green" is not an official color mind you, just "another term".

Work process then becomes:

Evaluate at its physical level i.e. materials and interaction with gravity and then apply the  following:

<>Size of object <>Purpose of object <>Production <>Personal Intents

In effect, I try to make my own assessment of any situation and see if I can make an actual diagram of what I've been given then consider what tools I know of ( including theoretical and physical ).

Downside to my work process:

Actual designs/ideas are difficult to realize even if there is an availability of resources. What can be done then is create a short term model and run possible tests on it and then hope that your design/concept is sound enough for 10 years. Why? by then you will have learned enough to hopefully remedy any flaws in your process. Even if its wishful thinking you can only rely on what is at hand, this is why I've come to accept myself as a wild card applicant not just for presentation/submission/compliance but because there is no way for anyone to have fool proof certainty.

What I'd like to do:

<>Create actual working plans for a building/structure using cad and manual drafting.

<> Create the same as above but with small scale objects.

<>Learn to integrate limited resources to any possible projects, given some leeway.

<>Torture myself with manual drafting by way of ruling pens and not technical pens

<as I took only one class of applied descriptive geometry in the late 90's>.

<>Cross platform PRo-Engineer with Autocad and learn to reverse engineer files <have to give my drafting instructor credit for this idea, Dr. Ardebili of BMCC>.

<> Develop some method to use with any design possibility that will allow the barest of tools.

      <> I.E. MS. Paint

      <> Manual drafting w/o a draftboard.

<>Learn real application of actual material analysis and more mathematical methods <too many  ways!!>.

<> MAtlab, Maple, Pro-e's Mechanica and other machine-based tools.

<>Have some exposure of theoretical designs vs. practical results <calculus being hard but still relevant in any design>

<>Improve my toolworks < wood, metal>

<> I've given myself 10-stitches on my left thumb as a constant reminder on how to use safety in a shop, thank God its still working!
